The UAE Philharmonic Orchestra under the artistic and musical direction of Philipp Maier has announced the formation of the "UAE Philharmonic Choir". This is the first kind of initiative in the country in order to pair the only resident full orchestra with a larger choir as one operative musical entity.

The UAE Philharmonic Choir will be directed by Philipp Maier. The repertoire will include larger scale works such as oratorios and opera productions involving both the choir and the UAE Philharmonic orchestra.

An additional future goal will be to cast smaller solo parts required for certain performances from within the UAEPC thus giving choir members the chance to experience solo performing. Work within the choir will be supported by renown and accomplished German opera soprano and qualified vocal coach Maria Glueck.

Following the involvement of Philipp Maier as a juror in this year's World Choir Olympics in Graz, Austria, and his membership in the World Choir Olympic council as a representative of the UAE the necessity to create a fully operative philharmonic choir performing regularly within in the UAE has become evident.

To become a member of the UAEPC you should have reasonable experience in choral singing, be able to read sheet music and commit to one weekly rehearsal and occasional performances with sometimes requiring additional rehearsing.

Regular rehearsals will be every Tuesday evening from 7.30 to 10.00 pm.

There will be no membership fee as we believe that the formation of a UAEPC is an important step ahead for musical development in the country in line with the work of the UAE Philharmonic Orchestra.

Auditions will commence in November 2008. The first planned project work will start early 2009. Auditions will be open to all interested singers in the UAE.

For all UAEPC members it will be a great opportunity to work with an extremely experienced and professional team and to further develop their vocal abilities.
