In collaboration with the 6th Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival the principal players of the UAEPO under the artistic direction of Philipp Maier have completed a tour throughout the UAE in March and April 2009.

The tour - named "Music as a way of life - tour" - took the musicians to Al Ain, Sharjah, Ras al Khaimah, Dubai, Fujairah and Ajman and presented the audience with a classical program including educational background information such as music history and biographic information.

It was the first time that an outreach program - originating from Abu Dhabi - has been devloped and performed from within resources available within the UAE.

The performances were all very successful and both ADMAF and the UAEPO hope to further develop these kind of educational efforts involving performances across the entire UAE.

After the performance of the tour in Fujairah ADMAF and the UAEPO were presented with an award from the Fujairah municipality for their efforts in musical education.
