All musicians residing within the UAE are welcome to join the orchestra.

The main criteria for playing in and performing with the UAEPO is regular rehearsal attendance, commitment and playing standard.

By joining the UAEPO you can become actively involved in creating the first philharmonic orchestra in the UAE.

The UAEPO currently has vacancies for the following instrument categories (these are not yet full-time salaried positions):

- keyboards

- electric and accoustic guitar

Please note that the UAEPO does currently not yet offer full-time salaried positions. If you are interested in a position within the UAEPO at a later stage please email your details to the UAEPO's Artistic Director.

Auditioning Requirements for the UAEPO

Timpani (Percussionists are required to apply on both Timpani and Percussion):
1. Required excerpts: Beethoven Symphony No.7: 1st movement: 20 before [C] to 2 after [C] (This is mm. 89 - 110), Beethoven Symphony No.9: 1st movement: mm. 16-35, 2nd movement: [F] to [H], Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis: 2nd movement: 5 after [S] to [T]; 2 before [Z] to the end, Mozart Symphony No.39, 1st movement: beginning to m. 21, [N. B. Please condense the roll in mm. 9 - 12 into 2 bars.], Tchaikovsky Symphony No.4: 1st movement: [S] to 9 after [U]

Percussion:

Harp:
1. Required excerpts: Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique (1st Harp): 2nd movement: 2 before [21] to [22]; 12 before [23] to [23]; [32] to [33], Britten The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra: Variation "I" (the harp variation), Tchaikovsky The Nutcracker: Cadenza from "Waltz of the Flowers"
2. Solo: Standard repertoire concerto, sonata, or etude max 10 minutes duration.

Piano:
1. Required excerpts: Stravinsky Petrushka: Russian Dance, The Russian Dance is in the First Tableau, from [33] to the end in the original version, and from [64] to the end in the 1947 version. Stravinsky Petrushka, Second Tableau: 11 after [49] to [56] in the original version, and from [97] to [108] in the 1947 version.
2. Two (2) solo works of the candidate's choice (concerto, sonata, or etude), each one no more than four minutes in duration. One solo should be of the period of Beethoven or earlier. The other should be of a later period and of a contrasting character.
